  1. I don’t agree with your comment on spraying pesticides in your yard to get rid of sparrows because do you not think other birds such as our native song birds eat bugs in peoples yards also? What are you thinking?

    1. If you don’t like the method, just ignore it. Instead, apply other methods we have discussed in this article.

  2. Hi, I appreciate your efforts to find different ways ro get rid of a small bird. Do you have any such articles, written for the birds, to get rid of humans from the surroundings?

    1. I think you got it wrong. House sparrows usually kill other songbirds, particularly bluebirds. They eat food provided for other birds. Some people find the sparrows’ chirping quite irritating. They really want to know how to get rid of these birds. We just let them know the ways of discouraging these birds. If you love sparrows, read our article on how to attract sparrows.

It is ONLY legal to kill starlings, pigeons and HOUSE SPARROWS!!! There are many species of protected sparrows, and most people can’t tell theme apart
So all your methods risk killing OTHER protected species of songbirds. Your methods are indiscriminate killers of goldfinches, cardinals, wrens, or any other unsuspecting songbird. Stop promoting these killers of ANY songbird that falls prey to them.

    1. All the methods I showed in this article are not killers of songbirds. Use preventive methods to get rid of house sparrows. We have no intention to harm other songbirds, like goldfinches, cardinals, wrens, etc.

  4. Are you mad?????? Killing sparrows? Really??? What kind of media reporters are you??? We ecologists and biologists fight everyday to save these species from extinction and you are encouraging and giving people ideas to kill sparrows? Stop meddling in this ecosystem. Stop killing them!!!!!!

This is insane! Leave the sparrow alone. It has every right to be in a yard. The sparrow didn’t know it was your yard or they would have kept flying.

    1. We don’t encourage killing sparrows. We just let people know how to get rid of sparrows only if they are annoying.

  6. It might have helped to clarify and repeat that House Sparrows are a non native invasive species and are a hazard to many of our native birds. I think this would have helped the reader understand (what I think is) the primary reason why they are undesirable and also this is why it is legal to eradicate them.

  7. I’m perfectly fine killing sparrows. I have a beautiful barn and the sparrows are making a mess of it inside. Their poop is everywhere. I have tried different live traps but they do not keep up with hundreds of sparrows that visit and would take over If I let them. Have you ever heard of Char-Broiled Sparrow at Burger King! May be a hit……even though it would be more of a snack!

English sparrows are not native to our country they are a invasive species and need to be eradicated. And if can find a way I will eradicate them from my property. I can no longer feed the chickadees, woodpeckers and other birds that live here. The sparrows are very aggressive and will kill other native birds. They need to go !!!
